Stop Networking. Start Attracting.

I was recently invited by my mentor to attend a multi-day conference in our industry.

On paper, it was the perfect place to network. Dozens of workshops and hundreds of people looking to do business.

But what stood out wasn’t the event itself.

It was what happened around it.

The most successful people there, my mentor included, barely spent time at the actual conference.

They weren’t walking around introducing themselves or chasing conversations.

People were coming to them.

Meetings were happening over dinners and private gatherings. The real opportunities existed outside the official schedule.

It was a real life example of a simple truth.

You either chase opportunities or you can become someone who attracts opportunities.

Obviously, if you’re just starting out you have to be proactive and put yourself out there.

But over time, if you consistently build your value, people start looking for you.

You don’t need to force conversations. You don’t need to convince people to work with you.

You become the signal and the right people tune in.

It’s a long game.

But it compounds slowly until suddenly, it explodes.

Focus less on “networking” and more on becoming the kind of person worth networking with.

Everything else follows.
