Titles Are Overrated
I've met people who file their LLC paperwork and immediately start calling themselves CEOs. No revenue. No track record. Just a legal document and a new Instagram bio.
I've seen the same thing in corporate. People who get promoted to Manager and suddenly think like the title changed who they are.
It didn't.
A title is just a label, and labels are only as valuable as the substance behind them.
The truth is, most people hold titles for which they don't yet have the full skillset. The title came before the competence.
Think about LeBron.
Do you think Lebron cares about what position he plays? When a team signs him, nobody says "we got a great small forward." They say "we got LeBron."
When opposing teams prepare for him, nobody says "watch out for the small forward." They say "we have to deal with LeBron."
His name IS the title. That's what happens when competence is undeniable.
Most people do the opposite. They chase the label hoping it makes them feel like the thing. Manager. Entrepreneur. CEO. Coach. etc. None of those words will make you magically make you competent, guarantee results or manufacture respect.
What actually does?
Becoming the kind of person who delivers regardless of the title. Regardless of the department, the role, the team or the situation. Someone whose results speak so clearly that the label becomes irrelevant.
Stop chasing titles. Build yourself into one.
Do that, and I promise you won't have a shortage of opportunities.
